Fornace Certosa Farmhouse

Over the centuries, Fornace Certosa was a factory that processed terracotta for the Cathedral.

It was later used as a farm for the production of cereals and livestock breeding.

Legend has it that there was an underground connection to the Cathedral, which is still visible inside the estate.

Today Fornace Certosa presents itself as an Agriturismo, opening itself to the international public, thus bringing the historical past of the place to life again.

Hospitality is offered with the rental of 11 double rooms with 22 beds, once the accommodation of former employees, and typical local products famous throughout the world.

The museum hall containing historical finds relating to the former Furnace, the Medieval Knights, Peasant Art, the Catholic Religion and Pavia Navigation is being renovated.

In the Middle Ages, the Certosa di Pavia was an obligatory passage and residence of rulers and knights. In 1525, it was the scene of the historic battle of Pavia between the French and Spanish armies.

A bloody battle that ended with the capture of Francis I, King of France, thus changing the fate of Europe.

Today, history and art lovers come from all over the world to visit what is considered the most beautiful Charterhouse in the world.
